Sorry…. what is the sense of control in “you have to come back, but you can maybe WTF for 3 months in a year, if we approve it”?

I do not understand the benefits of mandating RTO even with “flexibility” mentioned above.

Why can’t companies let employees choose? What’s so scary about WFH for employers, startups or not?

If employees don’t feel a sense of belonging working remotely, they already didn’t feel that way when they were forced to stay in the office, nor will they feel that way being mandated back into office, same or new.

Hmmm, that wasn't the point of the post, benefits of in-person vs. remote, that's a separate conversation. This is about how after some companies decide to RTO (their prerogative), how it can go better for their employees. That said, sounds like WFH works well for you so I hope there's no RTO in your future.
